The history of the noble prostitutes

Today I travel back in time to tell you about the seductive effects of significant hetaera. These were admired and desired in ancient times. Especially in our modern days, women should recognize themselves as such. Just because the gentlemen are paying for certain services at Ohlala, it doesn’t mean that you have to go to a lower level for them. Quite the opposite: I have something to offer, I know how to seduce with charm, I listen and know the art of love that my dating partner desires. The man of today is just as aware of this special company as he was then and loves to pay for an exciting night in style. It doesn’t take much to follow the footsteps of the admired hetaera, except self-confidence and charisma. If you ask yourself the question:»Why shouldn’t I be paid for these special arts of love?«, then the basic idea takes on a completely different meaning.

But now let’s start our journey and dive into the world of famous courtesans, which serves as the basis for inspiration.

1. Lais of Corinth

Lais of Corinth was a Greek hetaera who in the 4th century B. C. demanded legendary amounts of money for her sexual favors and made men lose their minds. Besides her beauty, she had much more to offer. She had a special charisma and knew how to inspire with sophisticated conversations. The only lover she adored free of charge was philosopher Diogenes. All the others, like Aristippos of Cyrene, she disdained and even rejected a proposal for marriage, but he endowed her richly.

2. Lamia of Athens

Lamia was considered to be the famous Athenian hetaera, who around 306 B. C. knew how women provide men with variety by turning on the head cinema. At first she practiced the profession of an Aulos player after recognizing her true talent as a seductress. She was a lover of the Greek politician and philosopher Demetrios of Phaleron. Later she fell for the young monarch Demetrios Poliorketes, who admired her despite her not so young age and appearance. The reason for this was her sparkling spirit, he just couldn’t elude her. In Athens, Lamia was later treated as a princess thanks to her position of power. The Athenians even built her a temple in which she was worshipped as the goddess Aphrodite.

3. Phryne

In the 4th century B. C. Phryne ended her poor life as a caper seller and became a popular lover and rich hetaera because of her beauty. Phryne became famous above all for her controversial appearance in a courtroom, legend has it that she undressed in front of the judges and displayed her wonderful breasts. The message behind it: The beauty of her breasts is more convincing than the defender’s speech. By the way: she was sued by Euthias because of shameless behavior in the lyceum and the introduction of a new deity. Phryne was just a real rebel. After exposing herself to the assembled crew at a ceremony in Eleusis and then diving naked into the sea, art history was written. It was regarded as a source of inspiration and made the hetaera respectable.

These are just three examples of exciting hetaera that have turned the men’s world upside down and made history. Hetaira means »companion« and is the feminine form of the word hetairos, which means as much as noble. The noble companions became famous for their special charisma. They were goddesses, they were love artists and ambassadors, self-employed women who were respected and revered by men. In antiquity, the hetaera stood for lust, while wives stood for cuisine and education.

So if you follow the developmental process, this kind of noble prostitution has always existed. No wonder that gender equality has endured. The man pays for his special desires and the mistress gives it to him if she feels like it. There are no more questions like: »Why should I pay a woman for her company?«, »What do I actually get out of it?«, but rather the counter-question: »Why shouldn’t you?«, because once you have enjoyed the seductive art of a hetaera, you become aware of this special power. It’s not about taking a quick stunt like in a porn movie and getting money for it, no, it’s about offering services that not only have sexual strength, but also possess spirit and diversity, charm, lightness, sex appeal. In return, men will appreciate and gladly pay for all these abilities, because after all it is still a service, no matter on which level you meet each other.
