5 Signs You Will Snag That Second Date
It’s difficult getting a read on a first date, even at the best of times. Add to that the anxiety, nerves, and elation that make up a first date and you’d be right to be a little confused and unsure. By the end of this post you will be better equipped to assess the situation and have the confidence you need to ask for a second date.
1. PRE DATE COMMUNICATION
When you set up the date was there a lot of anticipation? Were they keen to meet ASAP or did they keep rescheduling? Making time for the date would have been high on their list of priorities if they were really interested, although you should be cautious when reading into this. They might genuinely have been busy, in which case we’ll move on our next point.
2. PHYSICAL CUES AND BODY LANGUAGE
Strong eye contact, leaning forward and open body language (that is – not appearing closed off or withdrawing from the conversation) are all positive signs that your date is listening and receptive. Additionally, if their phone stayed out of sight for the majority of the date you can definitely interpret that as they were interested in what you had to say. Another excellent sign.
3. THE DATE RAN OVER
This could be anything from staying at the table long after the meal has been paid, ordering another round of drinks or just aimlessly wandering to prolong the date for as long as possible. If you or your date are doing this then it’s obvious that neither of you want to go home just yet. They – and you – have had a good time.
4. POST-DATE COMMUNICATION
So, the date’s over. You’re both at home and the texting has already resumed, you could have instigated it or they could have. Either way it is a very good sign. We don’t believe in games here, the ‘2-3 day’ waiting period is total trash. The post-date glow is a good time to ask for a second, provided the first went well enough. Gauge the conversation and pick your moment. Generally if you’re telling each other you had a good time then suggesting you do it again is textbook.
5. YOU’RE STILL ATTRACTED TO THEM
This is important. Just because they seem interested in you, it doesn’t mean you’re interested in them. I suppose since you’re reading this it means you’re desperate to find out if it went well, but a truly successful date meant that you got to know the other person further, and you want to continue to do so.
If you’re keen, and they seem attracted – ask for the second date. The worst thing that could happen is they say no.
